The inspection scheduling process will not change. You may still contact your inspector to schedule inspections or to discuss the project as always. However, the Inspectors are restricted from entering any occupied dwellings, places of assembly or rest homes unless it is for a life safety inspection. Life safety inspections include, electrical, sanitary, or gas for citizens that require these services for medical devices such as; oxygen, dialysis, heart devices, etc… Life safety inspections will take priority over routine inspections as always. We will continue to perform standard inspections on new construction projects such as, footing, foundation, framing inspections, etc... However, we ask that you maintain a clean, safe worksite and practice social distancing while our Inspectors are on these sites. The Inspector has authority to refuse to perform an inspection if he/she feels there is a risk of exposure to COVID-19. Keep in mind we are taking extra safety precautions’ during this COVID-19 Pandemic and we will make every effort to perform inspections as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Inspections that can be performed by utilizing the Live Remote Inspection (LRI) will be the required method of inspection during this COVID-19 crisis. We encourage all contractors to down load the instructions for Live Remote Inspections (LRI). Instructions for Live Remote Inspections (LRI) can be found in the previous e-mails sent to you or on the Building Inspections webpage. www.randolphcountync.gov/Departments/Building-Inspections
We encourage anyone who is sick or if you have had contact with anyone sick to stay at home. If your county business can be conducted electronically (via phone, email, internet, Live Remote Inspections, etc.), we strongly recommend you consider using these options.
As this situation continues to evolve, we will provide updates through the media and the Randolph County Departmental websites (www.randolphcountync.gov). We are committed to keeping our citizens informed and continuing to serve you during this challenging time.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC), North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS), and local health officials encourage everyone to follow preventative protocol that can be found at www.cdc.gov. Citizens may also call the NC Division of Public Health Coronavirus Helpline at 1- 866-462-3821. By working together, we ensure these practices are implemented and followed will greatly benefit our community.
