Low Income Energy Assistance Program

The Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) is a Federally-funded program that provides for a one-time vendor payment to help eligible households pay their heating bills.

Priority in eligibility is given to disabled persons receiving services through the Division of Aging and Adult Services, or households which include a member age 60 and older. Applications for those households are taken December 1 through December 31 or until funds are exhausted. Applications for all other households are taken from January 1 through March 31 of each year or until funds are exhausted.

Households that meet the following criteria may be eligible:

  • Have at least one U.S. citizen or non-citizen who meets the eligibility criteria.
  • Meet an income test.
  • Have reserves at or below $2,250.
  • Be responsible for its heating costs.

Applications for Randolph County Residents may be submitted online via the NC ePASS Portal or in person at both the Asheboro and Archdale Randolph County DSS Offices.
