On October 20, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office responded to Camellia Ln., Randleman, in reference to an assault that occurred at a location nearby. The responding deputy met with the caller, Jeffrey Corum, and discovered he had an outstanding warrant for felony charges. Corum was escorted to the location of the assault in the patrol vehicle and asked to stay in the car while the deputy spoke to the parties involved.
Following the conclusion of the investigation, the deputy advised Corum he was under arrest for the outstanding warrant. During a subsequent search of Corum, the deputy located a pair of flex cuffs that had been stolen from the front seat organizer of the patrol vehicle. Corum was informed that he would be receiving another charge of larceny. The deputy also discovered Corum was in possession of illegal narcotics.
Corum was subsequently transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for felony larceny of law enforcement equipment, felony possession of heroin, and felony possession of cocaine. He received a $2,500 secured bond and a first appearance was scheduled for October 23, 2023, in Randolph County District Court. He was also served with his outstanding warrant from earlier in the day for felony injuring utility wires/fixture, felony injury property obtaining nonferrous metal, felony possession of stolen goods, and felony larceny and received a $25,000 bond on those charges.
