On November 8, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Finch Farm Rd., Trinity, in reference to a welfare check. The caller reported a vehicle had been running at a pump for a while and that the driver appeared to be asleep.
Upon arrival, the deputy observed the same and multiple open alcohol containers. The deputy was able to wake the female, later identified as Melanie Seymour Hicks. During a subsequent search, illegal substances and paraphernalia were located. Hicks was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of cocaine, felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor simple possession of schedule II controlled substance, misdemeanor simple possession of schedule IV controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. She was given a $2,500 secured bond and a first appearance was set for November 9, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
