On July 23, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Old Cedar Falls Rd, Randleman, for a reported vehicle theft. Following the collection of evidence and an investigation, charges were sought against Braxton Lee Trogon for felony larceny of a motor vehicle, felony possession of stolen goods/property, and felony extortion.
On July 28, 2023, Kansas State Highway Patrol Trogdon initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle in which Trogdon had stolen. Trogdon failed to stop, and a chase ensued. Following the use of a tire deflation device, Trogdon was apprehended and transported to the Douglas County Detention Center in Kansas where a magistrate found probable cause for felony flee to elude with a stolen vehicle, felony possession of a stolen vehicle, multiple moving violations, and driving without a valid license. He was issued a $5,750 secured bond and a first appearance was for set July 31, 2023, in the Douglas County District Court. He was released prior to them receiving information regarding the full extradition to Randolph County request authorized by the District Attorney’s Office.
On August 14, 2023, Trogdon was located again in Douglas County, KS, and held for extradition.
The extradition was handled by the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections Special Operations and Intelligence -Extradition/Fugitive Section. They transported Braxton from Kansas to Randolph County, NC. On December 9, 2023, Trogdon arrived at the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was served the warrant and the magistrate issued a $10,000 secured bond. He was also served an outstanding warrant for failure to appear and received a $2,000 secured bond. A first appearance was set for December 11, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
