On December 2, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Westfield Church Rd., Trinity, in reference to a suspicious person walking around the church who appeared to be attempting to find an unlocked door. Upon arrival, deputies observed a vehicle backed into a parking spot in the corner of the parking lot with its hood up. Upon approach, the deputy encountered a female, later identified as Kyndrah Byrd, who had been seated in the driver's seat. The male passenger, who initially gave a false name, matched the description provided by the caller and was later identified as Daren Biddix.
During the investigation, it was determined that Byrd had an outstanding criminal summons and her driving privileges were suspended. She was served the summons.
Communications advised the vehicle had been reported stolen out of High Point. During an inventory of the vehicle, items belonging to Byrd were located. During a search of the subjects, illegal narcotics and paraphernalia were located. Both subjects were arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center.
The magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of stolen motor vehicle, felony possession of schedule II controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, no liability insurance, and driving/allowing registration plate not displayed against Byrd. She was issued a $15,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for December 4, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
The magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of schedule II controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia against Biddix.
After Biddix made bond and was released from custody, deputies determined that he had used a false identification, and then correctly identified him as Daren Ray Biddix. The magistrate issued a warrant against Daren Ray Biddix for felony identity theft, felony possession of schedule II controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
On January 8, 2024, Biddix was located, arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served his warrant. He was issued a $3,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for January 9, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
