On January 14, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Cheyenne Trail located in Pleasant Garden in reference to a robbery in progress and armed with a gun.
Upon arrival, the deputy observed a broken front door and small wooden parts of the door lying in the living room. The victims were located and were safe. The male, identified as Da’Shawn Jamal Chapman, who is known by the victim, had left the property on foot. Deputies searched for Chapman but were unable to locate him in the area. The victim provided information and evidence related to the reported incident.
Following the investigation, charges were sought against Chapman for felony robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony breaking and or entering, felony larceny, felony habitual breaking/entering, and misdemeanor injury to real property. The magistrate found probable cause and issued a warrant.
On January 18, 2024, Chapman was apprehended by the Randolph County Criminal Apprehension Team at his residence in Greensboro. He was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served the warrant. He was denied bond. A first appearance was set for January 19, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
