During an investigation into an unrelated incident, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division located firearms belonging to Octavius Cornelius Spinks, a convicted felon.
Following the investigation, charges were sought against Spinks for felony possession of a weapon on mass destruction and felony possession of a firearm by felon. The magistrate found probable cause and issued warrants.
On February 13, 2024, Spinks turned himself into the Criminal Apprehension Team at the Randolph County Detention Center where he was arrested and served his outstanding warrant. Release was not authorized by the magistrate and a first appearance was set for February 14, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
