On February 21, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office responded to Twin Leaf Dr., Sophia, in reference to a request for an agency assist with NC Probation and Parole. Upon arrival, deputies located officers inside the residence with Robert Lee Hankins, Sr. While searching the residence, they had located suspected methamphetamine, paraphernalia, and marijuana. Hankins was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for the charge(s) of felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and misdemeanor simple possession of Schedule VI controlled substance. He was given a written promise to appear in Randolph County District Court on March 18, 2024.
