PRESS RELEASE

RANDOLPH COUNTY, NC – Eighteen Randolph County citizens have completed 10 weeks of learning about the various functions of the Randolph County Sheriff's Office. On May 28, 2024, at a graduation ceremony, Sheriff Greg Seabolt presented each participant with their certificate of completion.

The Citizen's Academy consisted of 10 sessions on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 9:00 at the Emergency Services Operations Center, Detention Center, or Training Center. Participants were introduced to the various functions of the Randolph County Sheriff's Office with instruction by staff from the different divisions of the Sheriff’s Office.

“We commend these citizens for their dedication to participating in the Citizens Academy and taking valuable time out of their lives to learn and understand the inner workings of their Sheriff’s Office,” said Sheriff Seabolt. “We believe this commitment to transparency strengthens community engagement and trust with our deputies and detention officers.”

The Citizens Academy aims to offer insights into the Sheriff’s Office and establish valuable partnerships with the residents of our county. By fostering an open exchange of information and communication, the Sheriff’s Office can enhance its service to the community, ensuring a more effective and efficient interaction with citizens.

Applications for the next Citizens Academy beginning on August 13th are available online.   More information about the Citizens Academy can be found on our website www.randolphcountync.gov/sheriff under special programs.
