On June 21, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office responded to WOW Rd., Randleman, in reference to an agency assist with NC Probation and Parole. During a home visit and inspection of William Chad Whitt, who is a convicted felon, probation officers located firearms and ammunition. The deputy placed him under arrest and transported him to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of a firearm by felon. He was issued a $100,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for June 24, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
