On December 5, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Beckerdite Road in Sophia in reference to an agency assist with the NC Department of Adult Corrections Probation and Parole division. While they were conducting a routine search of Christopher Wayne Tate and his property, officers located an unknown substance and paraphernalia. A substance test performed by the deputy resulted in it being identified as methamphetamine.
Probation Officers transported Tate to the Randolph County Detention Center where they charged him for a probation violation as well as the drugs found on his person. The magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of methamphetamines and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a written promise to appear in Randolph County District Court on December 6, 2024.
He was also served an outstanding order for arrest and issued a $7,500 secured bond.
