On January 30, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Albemarle Rd., Asheboro, at the request of the NC Department of Adult Corrections Probation and Parole division due to substances that were located in the possession of Ronald Lynn Payne during a probationary search. Following a field test, Payne was arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a $3,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for January 31, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
