On January 14, 2025, after further investigation by the Criminal Interdiction Team Urban Unit, charges were sought against James Lamonte Cotton for felony possession of stolen goods. The magistrate found probable cause and issued a warrant for arrest.
On February 18, 2025, Cotton was located in Chatham County and served his warrant at the Chatham County Detention Center. A $5,000 secured bond was issued and a court date has been set for February 26, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.

On July 25, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Whites Chapel Rd., Staley, in reference to a burglary that had already occurred. The victim was able to provide identifiers and some of their item’s serial numbers for items that had been stolen.
Following an investigation by the Criminal Interdiction Team Urban Unit, charges were sought against Benjamin Hunter Bowman on January 14, 2025, for two counts of felony breaking and/or entering, two counts of felony larceny after break/enter, two counts of felony possession of stolen goods/property and misdemeanor injury to personal property. The magistrate found probable cause and issued a warrant for arrest.
Bowman, currently confined in the Randolph County Detention Center was served his warrant on January 15, 2025, and issued no bond. A first appearance was set for January 17, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
During the investigation, detectives recovered some of the stolen items and they were returned to the victim.
