During August 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office received reports from multiple victims who had conversations with subjects who had listed a mobile home for sale on Facebook Marketplace. The victims exchanged messages with the subjects and set up a date to see the property, met the subjects, paid them, and completed a bill of sale. They advised the victims that a key would be turned over when the tenants moved. The victims attempted to get in touch with the subjects when they didn’t hear back, but they had been blocked on social media, and the phone number no longer worked. During the investigation, it was determined that Alexander Reann Hasberry's name was attached to the property.
During the initial report, deputies requested that High Point Police attempt to locate Hasberry at the listed address, but they advised that the house was vacant.
Following an investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division, charges were sought against Jasmine Dene Phillips and Alexander Reann Hasberry for five counts of felony obtain property by false pretense on each.
On June 12, 2025, Phillips and Hasberry were located, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where their warrants were served. The magistrate issued a $50,000 secured bond to each, and a first appearance was set for June 13, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
