On August 20, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on Finch Farm Rd., Trinity. The vehicle refused to stop, and a chase ensued until the deputy lost sight of it on Hopewell Church Road. The deputy circulated the area, but did not locate the motorcycle.
Later in the evening, communications received a tip on the possible driver. Multiple deputies arrived at the address and found a male, identified as Johnathen Hughes Pemberton, matching the description of the driver during the chase. Following the investigation, Pemberton was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony flee to elude with a motor vehicle, misdemeanor drive without registration plate displayed, misdemeanor no liability insurance, misdemeanor driving while license revoked - not impaired revocation, misdemeanor reckless driving -wanton disregard, misdemeanor no motorcycle endorsement, misdemeanor speeding, fail to maintain lane control, fil to stop-steady red light, and unsafe passing oncoming traffic.
Pemberton was given no bond due to being on pre-trial release, and a first appearance was set for August 21, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
