On October 20, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office initially spoke with a victim via a call in reference to a larceny that had already occurred on Irving Country Rd., Randleman. Following the call, a deputy responded to the residence to investigate further.
Following the investigation, charges were sought against Melissa Dawn Toomes Fowler for felony exploit/disable elder capacity, two counts felony obtain property by false pretense, two counts felony larceny, and misdemeanor resist/obstruct public officer. The magistrate found probable cause and issued a warrant for arrest.
On October 24, 2025, Fowler was located, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where she was served her warrant. The magistrate issued a $70,000 secured bond, and a first appearance was set for October 27, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
