[ARCHIVED] Commissioner Meeting Recap for December 1, 2025

County Commissioners

The December meeting of the Randolph County Board of Commissioners included annual commitments and departmental requests.   

A few highlights:

  • Darrell Frye was nominated as Chairman, Kenny Kidd as Vice Chairman; approved
  • Announcement of a Public Hearing on December 8, 2025 at 6pm regarding the future of the Library Board of Trustees.
  • Crystal Gettys with Randolph County Economic Development requested a Building Reuse Grant match of $4,375 for “Project Woodstock” (Earth Retention Industries) located in Ramseur; approved
  • Bob Peeler, Joy Jones, Mike McFeely with Waste Management presented annual report to Board of Commissioners
  • Tourism Development Authority Director Amber Scarlett shared the 2024 Annual Report reporting a tax savings of $93.84 per citizen through tourism support
  • Randolph County Elections Director Melissa Kirstner requested approval to purchase new voting system equipment, as approved in the budget for $329,565; approved
  • Col. Steven Nunn with Randolph County Sheriff's Office requested a position: Clerk IV position utilizing lapse salary for the remainder of the year, $64.001 (FY 26/27); approved
  • County Manager Zeb Holden brought to the commissioners' attention, Present Use Value (PUV) Rollback Proceeds; these funds could be used to create farmland preservation program funding opportunities; approved
  • The Board of Commissioners scheduled their Annual Planning Retreat on February 19, 2026; approved

The next regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners is set for 6pm on Monday, January 5, 2026.
