On January 27, 2026, Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Deputies observed a vehicle idling at a green light on US 311 ext. and S Main Street in Randleman. They approached the vehicle and noticed three occupants who were unconscious in the vehicle. When they opened the passenger door, an illegal substance and paraphernalia were observed. Deputies were able to wake the driver and rear passenger, but not the front passenger. EMS and Fire responded.
The front passenger, identified as Julian Glenn Cross, was later detained when an illegal substance was found in his possession. He was transported to an area hospital for further treatment.
The driver was administered a traffic citation for DWLR.
Charges were sought against Cross for felony possession of a schedule I controlled substance, felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance, and two counts of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. The magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant for arrest.
On February 9, 2026, Cross was located by the Criminal Apprehension Team, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was served his warrant and issued no bond. A first appearance was set for February 10, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.
