On April 2, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to 828 Pleasant Cross Rd., Asheboro, in reference to a family fight from a third-party caller. The male subject, Daniel Lee Smith, Jr. had reportedly already left residence. Ramseur Police Department located the Smith’s vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. A deputy responded to assist Ramseur Police on the stop. During a subsequent search, methamphetamine and paraphernalia was located. Smith was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for the charges of Felony Possess Methamphetamine and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was given a $2,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for April 4, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
