On May 18, 2023, during the booking process of Amanda Gale Newman the Randolph County Detention Center staff located illegal substances in her possession. The items were secured for further investigation.
Following the investigation, charges were sought against Newman for felony possession of a controlled substance on jail premises, felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of schedule II controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of marijuana up to 1/2 oz. The magistrate found probable cause and issued the warrant.
On May 25, 2023, Newman was served the warrant, taken before the magistrate, who issued a $10,000 secured bond for this incident. A first appearance on these charges was schedule for May 26, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
