On June 3, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop in the area of Surrett Dr. and Turnpike Rd., Archdale. The driver was identified as Thomas Lee Hill, who Randolph Communications advised had a felony outstanding warrant out of Guilford County for felony possession of schedule II controlled substance and an outstanding order for arrest for failure to appear on a misdemeanor.
The passenger was identified as James Lawson St. Clair. During a subsequent search of St. Clair, drug paraphernalia was located.
While conducting a search of the vehicle, deputies located paraphernalia and a light fixture box that was filled with watches and other items in a Wal-Mart bag. High Point Police Department was contacted to see if they were investigating any larcenies from a Wal-Mart in the area and they advised that they were. The property was collected and High Point Police Department was made aware of the incident. Hill and St. Clair were transported to the Randolph County Detention Center.
Hill was served his two outstanding processes and received a $6,000 total secured bond and a court date of June 23, 2023, in Guilford County District Court and July 19, 2023, in Forsyth County District Court.
The magistrate found probable cause for charges of felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor resisting a public officer and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He received a $50,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for June 5, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
