On July 23, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to US Hwy 311, Archdale, for a Citizen Assist. Upon arrival, the victim reported that Ryan David Coleman-Ibarra, who is known to the victim, had broken into the residence while also brandishing a firearm. The victim advised being able to deescalate the behavior and was able to escape when Coleman-Ibarra fell asleep on the sofa.
Deputies then responded to the nearby residence and located Coleman-Ibarra still asleep there. They located a handgun and a schedule I controlled substance where he was laying. The victim asked that the subject be trespassed from the property and told to leave. The victim did not wish to press charges at the time; therefore, Coleman-Ibarra was released.
The responding deputy received a delayed hit confirmation from the national center of criminal information revealing that Coleman-Ibarra had a domestic violence protection order against him in Guilford County with a different plaintiff.
Charges were therefore sought against Coleman-Ibarra for felony breaking/entering with intent to terrorize, felony possession of schedule I controlled substance, misdemeanor injury to real property, misdemeanor second-degree trespass, and misdemeanor domestic violence protection order violation for the possession of a handgun, which was not allowed in the protection order. The magistrate found probable cause for the charges and issued warrants for his arrest.
On August 1, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Apprehension Team located Coleman-Ibarra and transported him to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served the warrant and denied bond and a first appearance was set for August 2, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
