On August 15, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Mendenhall Rd. Ext., Trinity, in reference to an assault. Upon arrival, a male subject was attempting to leave the driveway of the residence and the deputy positioned his patrol vehicle so the male was unable to leave the residence in the vehicle and an investigation could be conducted. The male was identified as Rodney Dean Deweese. The victim exited the residence. Injuries were visible and evidence was collected. Deweese was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for the misdemeanor assault on a female. During the booking process, detention staff located methamphetamine in the possession of Deweese. Bond was denied due to the charge being domestic in nature. A first appearance was set for August 16, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
The magistrate issued an additional warrant for the felony possession of methamphetamine. Deweese was served that warrant and issued a $5,000 secured bond, with a first appearance set for August 18, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
