On October 12, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Old State Hwy, Asheboro, in reference to a reported burglary in progress. The caller reported seeing an unknown subject enter a nearby residence through the back door and provided a description. Upon arrival, deputies located and detained the subject, who was identified as Jonathan Cass Carter. During a subsequent search, methamphetamine and paraphernalia were located.
During the investigation, the property owner declined to press charges but requested that Carter be trespassed from the property. Carter was subsequently advised that he was no longer permitted to return to the property and was placed under arrest for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was held without bond due to having been released on bond for the same offense. A first appearance was set for October 13, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
