On December 26, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Hunt Master Trl., Asheboro, in reference to an assault. Upon arrival, the victim stated that Timothy Shane Haney, who was no longer at the residence, had assaulted and threatened the victim during what started as a verbal argument. The victim stated that Haney had strangled her and prevented her from leaving during the assault. The victim had visual signs of an assault.
Following the investigation, deputies obtained a warrant for Haney's arrest for felony assault by strangulation, misdemeanor assault on a female, and misdemeanor communicating threats.
Haney was subsequently located and arrested for the outstanding warrant and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served the warrant and issued a 48-hour domestic violence hold. A first appearance was set for December 28, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
