During National Child Abuse Awareness Month, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a special joint operation investigating cybertips received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The reports were reviewed and the addresses were resolved to various locations within Randolph County.
On April 13 and 14, 2022, Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Team conducted Operation I See You focusing on child pornography cybertips. The joint operation included a combination of agents, analysts, ICAC and forensic detectives from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Winston-Salem, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, HSI Charlotte, HSI Victim Assistance Program, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Wadesboro Police Department, Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, Liberty Police Department, Asheboro Police Department, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, Guilford County Sheriff’s Office, and Pinehurst Police Department.
The purpose of the operation was to determine the validity of 106 pending cybertips by conducting interviews, computer examinations, cell phone data extractions, and analyzing evidence. Groups were formed and assigned cybertips from specific geographical areas within Randolph County for investigation.
During the two-day operation, teams effectively closed 78 cybertips. To date, three subjects have been charged and charges are pending on additional subjects. Four child/juvenile victims were also identified during this operation. They were victims of one or more of the following: online enticement, self-production, and/or hands-on sexual abuse.
The following subjects have been arrested and charged as a result of this operation. The investigations are ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.
