On April 18, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to McNeal St., Asheboro, in reference to a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, the victim reported arriving at the residence to find a female inside the home and located in the master bedroom. The female, identified as Traci Underwood Andrews, had reportedly jumped from the bedroom window and fled on foot to a black truck. The victim and a witness stated that the female attempted to flee in the truck through the yard but had wrecked in a ditch on McMasters St. where Deputies located the vehicle with Andrews sitting inside same. During a subsequent search, illegal substances were located. EMS responded to evaluate Andrews and she was transported to an area hospital for further evaluation.
During the investigation at the residence, several bags containing the victim’s personal belongings were located throughout the residence.
Following the investigation, deputies sought charges and the magistrate found probable cause to issue warrants for arrest for Andrews for Felony 2nd Degree Burglary, Felony Attempted Larceny, Felony Possession of Schedule II, Misdemeanor Injury to Personal Property, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor Simple Possession of Schedule IV, and Misdemeanor Simple Possession of Schedule II.
On April 22, 2022, Andrews was located, arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where she was served her outstanding warrants. She was issued a $15,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for April 25, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
