On March 5, 2024, while patrolling the area of Old Liberty Rd. near W O W Rd., the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Urban Interdiction Team observed a suspicious vehicle and made a consensual encounter with the occupants when the vehicle reached its destination. After further investigation, a subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted and a trafficking amount of methamphetamine was located, along with THC oil and items of drug paraphernalia.
As a result, Jacob Austin Cabrera and Amber Michelle Friday were both placed into custody and transported to Randolph County Detention Center. Cabrera was charged with two counts of felony trafficking in methamphetamine, simple possession of schedule VI controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia. He received a $75,000 secured bond with a first appearance set for March 6, 2024, in Randolph County District Court. Friday was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia. She received a $10,000 secured bond for these charges with a first appearance set for March 6, 2024, in Randolph County District Court. She was also served with an order for arrest for felony probation violation and received a $50,000 secured bond.
