On May 28, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Ingram Dr., Asheboro, in reference to a hit and run with personal injury.
Upon arrival, a witness reported observing a passenger car striking a moped several times before speeding up and hitting it hard enough to knock it over and throw the subjects from the moped. The vehicle then went around the moped barely missing the subjects in the roadway and left the scene.
Shortly after, Asheboro Police reported that the subjects in the car were at their office and deputies responded there to continue the investigation.
Following the investigation, Leigh Ann Locklear was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon. She was issued a $75,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for May 29, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
