As a result, at low cost, personnel began converting all records, documenting and reporting to paperless systems, converting storage to office space and preventing costly future archiving and purge projects. This eliminates some of the spending on paper, toner and printing costs.
Personnel converted pistol purchase and concealed carry permit applications to a digital format storing them on the county server using existing software. The permitting division uses this practice for all new and renewed concealed permits and new purchase permits.
The Sheriff also instituted paperless systems in the booking area of the detention center which opened up two additional holding cells for temporarily housing inmates. A paperless project for personnel files has also been completed and a paperless project is in the works for the Sex Offender Registry Program.
We had originally received a quote for scanning documents by a vendor that would have costs thousands of dollars. We instead have completed / are completing this task in house using current personnel and volunteers, costing the taxpayers very little.
