On July 2, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team – Highway Unit, conducted a traffic stop for minor traffic violations on I-85 in Randolph County. During the traffic stop a K-9 was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotics. During a subsequent search, Detectives located a trafficking amount of Cocaine, US Currency, and a firearm along with ammunition.
As a result, the driver of the vehicle, Derwyn Andre Mixon, Jr. of Indian Trail, NC, was placed under arrest and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center. The magistrate found probable cause for the charges of two counts of Felony Trafficking in Cocaine. He received a $500,000 secured bond with a first appearance set for July 8, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
