During an investigation of a breaking and entering by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division Detectives, information was gathered that led to a discovery that Jonathan William Slaugenhaupt, a convicted felon, had been in possession of firearms since his conviction and prior to his current arrest on April 16, 2022, for failure to appear. One weapon located during the investigation, had been reported stolen through the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office. On April 29, 2022, warrants were sought for six counts of Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and Felony Possession of a Stolen Firearm. Slaugenhaupt, who is currently confined in the Randolph County Detention Center, was served the warrants on May 2, 2022, and issued a $25,000 unsecured bond. A first appearance set for May 9, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
Also during the investigation, it was determined that Jennifer Michelle Lanning, a convicted felon, had possession of the firearms on April 13, 2022. Warrants were also sworn out for six counts of Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. On May 3, 2022, Lanning was located by the Denton Police Department in their jurisdiction. She was arrested and transported to the Davidson County Detention Center where she was served the warrants and issued a $20,000 secured bond and then transferred to the Randolph County Detention Center for her first appearance, which is set for May 6, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
