On July 20, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Wicker Lovell Rd., Randleman, regarding a reported burglary in progress. Communications had received several calls about a female attempting to break into multiple houses. Upon arrival, the deputy was flagged down by a bystander who reported that the female had entered the woodline at his address. He made his way into the woodline where he located the female, identified as Meagen Nicole Gasey, lying on the ground. EMS responded and transported her for evaluation.
A female bystander stated that she saw Gasey around several hours before this incident, standing around a vehicle at an address on Old Liberty Rd. When they returned, the vehicle was still sitting in the driveway but now the back window and windshield were completely broken out.
Deputies responded to all the addresses that had called 911 to investigate and to the Old Liberty Road address. Upon their arrival on Old Liberty Road, They located the vehicle with a lot of visible damage. The owner of the vehicle was located by phone and he responded to the scene. He reported that Gasey had taken his vehicle the day prior and he had been calling around to see if anyone knew where she might have gone before reporting it.
Following the investigation, charges were sought against Gasey for felony larceny of a motor vehicle, felony possession of a stolen vehicle, misdemeanor injury to personal property, and misdemeanor larceny.
On August 13, 2024, Gasey was arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where she was served her outstanding warrant. She was issued a $10,000 unsecured bond and a court date was set for August 19, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
