On May 2, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Albemarle Rd., Asheboro, in reference to an assault. Upon arrival, the victim was being evaluated by Randolph County EMS and later transported for further evaluation. The assailant, Dyon Booker Toler was located, arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for misdemeanor assault inflicting serious injury and was given a secure bond of $5,000 with a first appearance set for May 3, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
On May 5, 2022, the victim reported that during the assault on May 5th, a cell phone was stolen and had possibly been captured on surveillance video. Toler had more than one phone in his possession when arrested and both were secured in evidence. The description given by the victim matched one of those phones and when pulled from evidence, the victims personal information was stored in the phone with the matching identification number.
Additional charges were issued for Toler for felony larceny from a person and felony possession of stolen property. The magistrate issued an additional $5,000 unsecured bond and a court date for these charges was set for May 9, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
