On May 5, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Hillsville Rd., Trinity, in reference to a female unconscious in a motor vehicle with a child in the backseat. While en route, Communications advised first responders with the fire department had arrived on scene and attempted to aid the female, identified as Brittany Michell Hayes (Alias: Brittany Michell Proctor). When Hayes became conscious, she sped away causing physical injury to emergency personnel. Additional deputies responded to the area in search of the vehicle and the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office was notified due to the direction in which she fled.
Later in the day, deputies, with the assistance of Thomasville Police Department, located Hayes at her residence in the City of Thomasville. Hayes was placed under arrest and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for charges of felony assault causing physical injury to emergency personnel and misdemeanor child abuse. She was also served the outstanding order for arrest and was issued a $6,000 total secured bond and a court date of May 6, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
