On February 3, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Miller Farm Dr., Trinity, in reference to the larceny of a dirt bike that had already occurred. Deputies were able to obtain a possible suspect vehicle and surveillance video from the area.
On February 5, 2025, after further investigation by Detectives with the Criminal Interdiction Team Urban Unit, the stolen dirt bike was located in Jamestown, NC, and it was returned to the victim.
On February 6, 2025, following the investigation, charges were sought on Mickey Tylar Smith for felony larceny and felony possession of stolen goods and the magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant. The magistrate also issued a warrant for arrest on Amy Christine Evans for felony conspiracy.
Evans and Smith were located, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where they were served their warrants. Evans was issued a $3,000 secure bond and Smith was issued no bond. A first appearance was set for February 7, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
