On June 22, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Mt. Shepherd Rd., Asheboro, in reference to an armed subject.
Upon arrival, deputies obtained additional information about the incident from one victim who had gone next door for help. Upon arrival, deputies gave verbal commands for Thomas Olen Burrell to exit the residence. After approximately fifteen minutes, the other victim exited the residence, and deputies then entered the residence, taking Burrell into custody. Evidence was collected for the investigation.
He was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony discharge of a weapon into an occupied property, felony discharging a firearm in an enclosure to cause fear, and misdemeanor assault on a female. He was issued no bond. A first appearance was set for June 23, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
