On June 10, 2022, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Deputy, while patrolling the area initiated a traffic stop in the area of Trinity Road. The driver refused to stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The suspect vehicle continued at a high rate of speed and in a reckless manner, proceeding to Fairview Church Road and then Flora Mae Drive. As the vehicle crested the top of a hill on Flora Mae Drive, the driver lost control and crashed. The driver, later identified as Ryan Julia McQueen, was ordered out of the vehicle and taken into custody. Randolph County EMS transported McQueen to an area hospital for further evaluation. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, deputies located illegal substances and a firearm that had been reported stolen out of Guilford County.
Following release from the hospital, McQueen was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for the charges of felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver schedule IV controlled substance, two counts felony trafficking opium or heroin, felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, felony possession of a stolen firearm, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia, reckless driving to endanger, following too close, driving left of center, and speeding. She was issued a $500,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for June 13, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
