On June 11, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Rising View Way, Asheboro, in regards to a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, the vehicle matching the description given was observed and a traffic stop conducted. The driver was identified as Billy Joe Bishop. During a subsequent search, methamphetamine and marijuana were located. Bishop was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for the charges of felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor simple possession of a schedule VI controlled substance. He was given a $2,500 unsecured bond and a court date for July 11, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
