On January 8, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Shadydale Acres Ln, Trinity. The driver was identified as James Edward Rogers, who was wanted for a felony Probation/Parole violation and had an outstanding Order for Arrest (OFA) out of Davidson County for failure to appear (FTA) - misdemeanor. He was placed under arrest.
During the investigation and subsequent search, illegal substances and paraphernalia were located. The female passenger, who initially provided a false name, was also placed under arrest. She was later identified as Shirley Dove Hazelwood, who had an outstanding order for arrest (OFA-FTA) for failure to appear out of Guilford County for possession with intent to sell/deliver Schedule II controlled substances.
Hazelwood and Rogers were both transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for charges as follows:
- Hazelwood: felony possession methamphetamine, misdemeanor marijuana paraphernalia, misdemeanor drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor simple possession Schedule VI controlled substance, and misdemeanor resisting public officer. She was issued a first appearance set for January 9, 2026, in Randolph County District Court. Hazelwood was given no bond due to being out on pre-trial release. Regarding the OFA-FTA, same was a pre-set bond for $100.
- Rogers was given a preset bond of $6,000 secured regarding his OFA-FTA out of Davidson County. He received a $30,000 secured bond with a first appearance court date set for January 7, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.
