On February 14, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to W. Main Street, Franklinville, in reference to larceny of a motor vehicle. Following the investigation, the facts were presented to the magistrate who found probable cause for the charge of Felony Larceny of Motor Vehicle against Crystal Lynn Jones, who is known to the victim.
On March 9, 2022, Jones was apprehended by the Criminal Apprehension Team in the area of Greencastle Rd., Asheboro, after attempting to hide in an attic. She was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where she was served the Warrant for Arrest. She was also served an additional outstanding Warrant for Arrest for misdemeanor resisting public officer and three Orders for Arrest for Failure to Appear. She was issued a $31,000 total secured bond and a first appearance was set for March 10, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.

On March 8, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Howard Auman Rd., Asheboro, to report of larceny. The victim reported being contacted by her bank in reference suspicious activity on a checking account. The victim explained that she had assisted a male subject, who was known to the victim, in obtaining fuel for his vehicle and transported him to the vehicle and made sure he was safe until mobile again and felt that was when her financial cards were taken.
An additional deputy responded to the location of the most recent transaction reported by the bank in an effort to locate the suspect, identified as a Jeremy Alberto Suriel. Suriel was located in the parking lot of the business and in possession of four debit cards that were property of the caller/victim; therefore, was placed under arrest. During the search other evidence of the financial fraud was located, along with marijuana and paraphernalia. Suriel was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for the charges of four counts of felony financial card theft, two counts felony financial card fraud, misdemeanor possession of stolen goods/property, misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of marijuana. He was issued a $13,000 secured bond and given a court date of March 9, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.

On March 7, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team conducted a traffic stop on Howard Mill Rd. in Bennett for minor traffic violations. The driver, identified as Willie Douglas Johnson, had multiple outstanding Orders for Arrest. A subsequent search was conducted and Methamphetamine and paraphernalia were located.
Willie Douglas Johnson and the passenger, Maria Lynn Pemberton, were arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center. Johnson was served the outstanding warrants and also charged with Felony Possession of Methamphetamine and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was given a $27,500 secured bond with a first appearance set for March 8, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
Maria Lynn Pemberton was charged with Felony Possession of Methamphetamine and Misdemeanor Possess Drug Paraphernalia. She was given a $2,500 unsecured bond with a first appearance scheduled for March 28, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
