On June 7, 2022, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was in the area of Caraway Mtn. Rd., Asheboro, conducting an investigation, when a motorist approached to report seeing a female being forced out of a vehicle on Caraway Mtn. Road.
Deputies located that female, who was observed exiting the vehicle earlier on Caraway Mtn. Rd., and transported her to an area hospital for evaluation.
A deputy located the vehicle near the intersection of Caraway Mtn. and Old County Farm and initiated an investigatory stop. The driver refused to stop and a chase ensued. The driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed on Hanner Hill Road. The driver was identified as Aubrey Thornhill. She was transported by EMS to an area hospital for medical evaluation.
Following the investigation, charges were sought from the magistrate for Felony Flee to Elude, Speeding, Open Container, Driving Left of Center, Failure to Maintain Lane Control, No Operators License, Injury to Personal Property and Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign. The magistrate found probable cause and issued the warrants.
On July 11, 2022, Thornhill was located by Greensboro Police Department in their jurisdiction. She was arrested and transported to the Guilford County Detention Center where the magistrate issued a written promise to appear on September 7, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
