On July 20, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office took a larceny report at a residence on Leigh Lane in Sophia. The victim reported that he had placed a camera on the property due to the suspicious activity in the neighborhood. On this date, the victim discovered the camera had been stolen from his property.
Subsequently on July 20, 2022, Patrol Deputies and a Detective went to a neighboring residence to serve an unrelated warrant for arrest on Jason Howard Cockman where Lauren Frank lives. Deputies made contact with Cockman and took him into custody on the warrant. Deputies also made contact with Frank. During a subsequent search, the camera that had been reported stolen was found in their possession, as well as methamphetamine and other items believed to be stolen. Frank was also taken into custody. Both subjects were transported to the magistrate’s office for arraignment.
Cockman was served with the warrant for arrest for misdemeanor obstruction of justice and felony intimidating of witness. The magistrate also found probable cause for charges of misdemeanor possession of stolen property, felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor simple possession of schedule IV. Cockman’s bond was set at $85,000 secured and a first appearance is scheduled for July 22, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
The magistrate found probable cause for charges against Frank for felony harboring or aiding certain persons and misdemeanor possession of stolen property. Her bond was set at $20,000 secured and a first appearance is scheduled for July 22, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.
