On July 25, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Oakland Avenue, Asheboro, in reference to a reported possible burglary in progress. While enroute, Communications advised they were receiving additional calls that a female had come to their doors covered in blood. Upon arrival, deputies located a female victim of an assault. The assailant, who was identified as Donovan Cequan Brower, was not on scene at the time of law enforcement arrival. Additional deputies located Brower a few houses away and detained him.
Randolph County EMS responded to evaluate the victim and transported her for additional care. Brower was also transported for medical evaluation. A warrant for arrest was sought through the magistrate, who found probable cause to issue for the charges of felony assault with a deadly weapon inflict serious injury and misdemeanor assault on a female.
On August 4, 2022, Brower was located, arrested was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center. He was denied a bond on the new charges due to the domestic in nature charges. He was also served an outstanding order for arrest for failure to appear, in which he was issued a $1,000 bond. A first appearance was set for August 5, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
