On July 24, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Meadow Acres Ln., Sophia, in reference to an assault. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the victim, who had visible injuries. The assailant was identified as Kenneth McGaha, Jr. Randolph County EMS transported the victim to a local medical facility for treatment. Deputies located a male matching McGaha’s description walking through the yard and away from them. He ignored commands and a foot chase ensued in to a wooded area but he was not located. Warrants were sought for McGaha and the magistrate found probable cause for the following charges; Felony Assault by Strangulation, Felony Assault With a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury, Misdemeanor Assault on a Female, Misdemeanor Communicating Threats, and Misdemeanor Resisting Public Officer.
On August 10, 2022, McGaha was located by the Criminal Apprehension Team, arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served the outstanding warrants. Bond was denied due to the charges being domestic in nature. A first appearance was set for August 11, 2022, in Randolph County District Court. He was also served an outstanding warrant for arrest out of Davidson County for Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance and received a written promise to appear on August 15, 2022, in Davidson County District Court.
