On August 16, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Oakland Ave., Asheboro, in reference to suspicious persons in the parking lot of a church. Upon arrival, a male and female subject were located working on a bicycle. While speaking with the subjects, the male, later identified as Stephen Marcus Lopez, was uncooperative and became combative. While the male was being taken into custody the female fled on one of the bicycles before fleeing on foot. Deputies were able to locate the female inside of a crawl space of a nearby home. She was arrested without further incident and identified as Amanda Nicole Barbour.
During the search to arrest, methamphetamine and various paraphernalia items were located in the possession of Lopez and methamphetamine was located in the possession of Barbour. Both subjects also had orders for arrest out of Chatham County.
Lopez has been charged with Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Misdemeanor Possession Drug Paraphernalia, and Misdemeanor Resist Delay Obstruct. He was given a $2,000 secured bond for the new charges and a $400 cash bond for the orders for arrest. A first appearance was set for August 16, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
Barbour has been charged with Felony Breaking and Entering, Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, and Misdemeanor Resist Delay Obstruct. She was given a $2,500 secured bond for the new charges and $200 cash bond for the orders for arrest. A first appearance was set for August 16, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
