On August 19, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to NC Hwy 49 S., Asheboro, in reference to an accident with unknown injuries. Upon arrival, deputies located the vehicle in the ditch and observed drug paraphernalia and marijuana on the dash of the vehicle. The driver, identified as Gwen Sheffield Jackson, refused medical evaluation.
While conducting an inventory of the vehicle for towing, methamphetamine was also located. Jackson was placed under arrest and was transported to the magistrate’s office, where probable cause was found for the following charges: Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Misdemeanor Possession Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor Possession Marijuana >1/2 oz., and Failure to Maintain Lane Control. The magistrate issued a written promise to appear. A first appearance was set for August 22, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
