On August 26, 2022, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Deputy patrolling the High Pines Church Rd., area of Asheboro conducted a traffic stop. During a subsequent search, methamphetamine and paraphernalia was located in possession of the driver, Clint Wayne Hughes, and he was therefore arrested. Hughes was transported to the magistrate's office where the deputy testified to the facts of this case and the magistrate found probable cause for the offense of felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. The magistrate issued Hughes a written promise to appear on September 19, 2022, in Randolph County District Court. He was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center for processing and released on the written promise.
