On September 5, 2022, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Deputy patrolling the area of NC Hwy 705 near Old US Hwy 220 observed two subjects walking south on the shoulder of the roadway carrying several items. The deputy stopped to conduct a welfare check on the individuals. The male identified himself as John Richard Anderson, Jr., who had an active warrant out of Randolph County. He was placed under arrest for same. While conducting a subsequent search, methamphetamine and paraphernalia were located in his possession. Anderson was then transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served his outstanding process and the magistrate found probable cause for charges of Felony Possession of Methamphetamine and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was issued a $2,500 secured bond along with a first appearance court date of September 6, 2022, for both processes.
